Angalakshana Part 5 - Pada Bhedam or Leg Movements

Both the limbs are very important in dance. Legs have special impact on the postures. Hence it is very important to understand the importance of the leg movements and master the art. As per NatyaShastra there are 4 types of Angakari or Angalakshana in respect to the legs or pada. They are noted as follows :

  1. Mandala  : Mandala means standing position.There are of 10 types. 
  2. Utplavana : This means jumping. There are 5 types of Utplavana.
  3. Bhramari : Bhramari means circular movements. There are 7 types of Bhramari.
  4. Padachari : Padachari means walking. There are 8 types of Padachari.
