  1.        Mysore Bani : Features : Abhinaya presents the lyrical beauty of the saint composures and poets. Its certain multitudinous and has special effects. Understanding the word Bani

  Defination and Meaning of Bani The word Bani or Pani (in Tamil) can loosely be translated as “Schools of Dance”.   Over a period of 2 centuries (1800- 2000) different styles of Bharatnatyam has evolved and each of these styles have its own distinctive characteristics. While the form, music and overall appearance remains same, each region developed its own characteristics and special stylisation. So Banis can be defined as “Individual traits that are given by generationsof Gurus and is established by the number of students and popularity of the same style “.   The dance lineage that the dancer inherits is important for any Bani.   The qualities that make each Bani distinctive from the other comes from the individualistic manner in which the dance alphabets are woven together.   1.        PandanallurBani :Many 1 st generation star dancers went to Pandanallur village to learn. This style has diverse Adavu patterns and has worked and stylised techniques. Emphasis was given on symmetry and harmony, complex rhythmic pattern, intense musicality, purity and precision of rekhas. The dancers gave away the excess of body movements and melo drama concentrating on the purity and subtlety of the dance itself. The abhinaya was purely Natyadharmi.Slow progression and evolution of the techniques were the main features. Wide swipe of arm, clarity of hastas, controlled emotional quotient was the main moto.   Dragging the Sancharis was not done atall. The items and the dance dramas were crisps.
